There are nine factors that effect the color of sempervivum. They are as follows: the top
three having the strongest effect.

1. Day length
2. Light intensity
3. Soil and air temperature   These three factors are the seasonal changes along  with        
   the specific cultivar item #9 having the greatest effect.
4. Soil ph
5. Soil fertility
6. Soil moisture
7. Soil texture. This one is listed because within it, the texture alone can varey the            
moisture (drainage), ph, fertility, ability to take up nutrients, etc.
8. Age of plant (on some red plants they have green babies(offsets) and on some  green     
plants they have red babies, etc.
9. Specific cultivar. Of course each cultivar having its own distinct coloring and                  
variations.
